Welcome to River of Life Church...

What we believe at River of Life?

The Word of God: We believe that the Bible is God's Word.  Therefore it is without error and was inspired and ultimately authored by the Holy Spirit who used human writers. It is our source and final authority in all areas of personal and church life.  We desire to be a people who pursue God's Word at River of Life Church.

Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus is the Son of God; That He came to earth through the virgin birth and lived a sinless life.  That through His death and shedding of His holy, perfect, blood, he took all my sins and paid the price for them.  Because of His resurrection he gained power over death and earned eternal life for all those who believe in Him and give their life to Him.  Salvation is only found in and through Jesus Christ.

The Trinity: There is one God who exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Baptism in Water: We believe that the Bible instructs those who come to Jesus for salvation to be baptized. This baptism we believe is for those who are saved, old enough to understand what they are doing, and to be done by immersion as a picture of the death and resurrection of Christ.

The Church: We believe that the Word of God encourages every believer to "plug" into the body of Christ,

which is the local church.  Each believer in the local church is expected to support the work of the church

with his or her time, tithe, and talents.

Our Purpose

Preparing us for growth:  In order to reach this generation for Christ, the Lord is calling us to evaluate all facets of our ministry.  He is preparing us for even greater increase.  Are we ready to handle what the Lord brings?  Under the Lord's direction in recent years we have renovated and enlarged our sanctuary, revised our constitution, initiated numerous new ministries and had a church name change.  Each of these were done to meet the needs of growth and/or to encourage further Godly increase.

Embracing our Charismatic Heritage:  Our name change to River of Life Church was motivated out of a desire to declare to the community our goal of being a church that flows in the river of God's Spirit.  For almost 30 years we have as a church believed in the present day work of the Holy Spirit to "fill" or "baptize" people in the Spirit.  Where perhaps in the past we were a Baptist church that happened to be Charismatic, we now desire to operate as a Charismatic church that happens to be Baptist.

Pursuit of God's Presence: As our Vision Statement declares, this is our number one priority.  In II Corinthians 11:3 the Bible speaks of not being led astray from the simple and pure pursuit of Christ.  We want to continually emphasize and encourage our church to be a body of believers that never forsakes our first love, Jesus.  No program, building, growth, pastor, or activity of the church can replace the work of Christ in our individual lives.

Praise and Worship: We believe that the Lord is calling us to be a body that passionately seeks to worship in spirit and truth.  It is our desire that in this community we would become known as a place of celebration worship.

Local Outreach: We believe that the Lord is impressing on us more than ever to be witnesses to our "Jerusalem" which in our case is Crosland Park and the other neighborhoods near the church.  We are committed to outreach all over Aiken County and the world, but we know it has to start with our willingness to reach out with the love of Christ to the people at our doorsteps here on the North side of Aiken.

Inter-Racial: Whether it be "Promise Keepers", the Southern Baptist statement of racial reconciliation, or any other ministries that are calling for it, it is obvious that one of God's works in this hour is to break down the wall of racism.  Since the 1960's this church has been open to this.  We believe that in the coming years, as we reach out to our local neighborhoods, we will become even more multi-racial.

"To be a people who pursue God's presence;
passionate in worship,
persistent in prayer,
planted in His Word,
purposed in evangelism;
empowered by His Spirit which flows through God's River of Life."
